OutKick's MLB Around the Diamond Betting Pick For Wednesday, April 14th
The last time former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Joe Musgrove took the mound, he was close to perfect, throwing a no-hitter against the Texas Rangers, the first of his career.
Wednesday evening, Musgrove will look to follow up that outing with a matchup against his former team, the Pirates, at PNC Park in beautiful Pittsburgh, PA.
Entering action on Wednesday, the Padres sit at 8-4, 1.5 back of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West. The Pirates, who are 3-2 at home, are 4-7, three games back of the Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central division.
All eyes will be on the 2-0 Musgrove, who thus far in two starts has struck out 18 batters, given up just three hits and not allowed a single run in 15 innings. He also hasn't given up a walk.
Musgrove and the Padres are heavy -225 favorites for Wednesday's affair, so some may choose to fade the Pirates, who have been at least competitive at home.
Tuesday evening, the Pirates won outright, again showing their fight when playing at PNC Park. They entered Tuesday as +215 underdogs, so needless to say, you made some coin if you played the Pirates.
If you're still not convinced, check out the run line for the Pirates getting +2.5 runs. They sit at -133, giving them an early edge in this National League matchup.
