Florida Bettor Nets $550,000 Betting On Buccaneers, Brady In Super Bowl Blowout

Super Bowl Sunday was a very profitable day for one bettor from Florida after a number of bets on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers netted him a massive $550,000 payout.

The bettor is Mark DeRosa, who places bets for a living. Thanks to a dominant performance from Tom Brady and company, DeRosa is a lot richer today.

It's not the first time that DeRosa has made headlines making bets. Last year, he won $285,500 when he placed a bet that Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson would win the league MVP award.

Last offseason, DeRosa studied the future of quarterback Brady and eventually put money that Brady would join either the Los Angeles Chargers after Philip Rivers inked with the Indianapolis Colts or the Bucs, whose coach Bruce Arians was making a big push to ink the veteran.

While he was betting on Brady's future team, he also bet on both teams to win their division, their conference and the Super Bowl.

The Chargers flamed out, finishing 7-9 and third in the AFC West. The 11-5 Bucs failed to win their division, but they did qualify as a Wild Card in the NFC.

Brady and the Bucs worked their way through the NFC, beating Washington, New Orleans and Green Bay to reach the Super Bowl. By this time, DeRosa already knew that he would cash in even before Sunday's win for the Bucs.

DeRosa placed an $8,000 bet at 35/1 that Tampa would win the NFC and a $2,000 bet at 65/1 that they would win the Super Bowl.

Needless to say, they paid off.

Tampa built a huge lead over the Kansas City Chiefs, Brady dominated, and DeRosa cashed in.

“What you saw Sunday night was literally their best game all season. There wasn’t a single mistake the whole game. There was flawless execution on both sides of the ball," DeRosa said.

So what will the bettor do with his over half a million dollars in winnings, thanks to the Bucs and Brady?

He's building an addition on a house that was already being built, and he said that he may purchase property for a vacation home.

Maybe he should send a couple bucks to Brady as well. Or at least a thank you note.
