Early Week 9 NCAAF Best Bets
Kickoff for Week 9 in NCAAF is already upon us and we’ve broken down the contenders and pretenders. Alabama and Georgia look like the two best teams in the country with a few other teams scattered in there. As we bring this slate to a start, let’s take a look at a few games we can bet on for the early week schedule.
Troy at Coastal Carolina
The Troy Trojans travel to visit #24 Coastal Carolina in hopes of pulling off an improbable upset. Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall has had a great season, amassing 1,769 yards, 15 touchdowns and one interception. Troy has a strong defense though, and has averaged less than 200 yards passing allowed. You can’t always consider this a barometer, but both teams faced UL Monroe. Troy lost to them by 13. Coastal Carolina beat ULM by 53. I think that Troy has a good chance to at least hang in there against Coastal Carolina and am going to play them with the points. Troy +17.5 at -122.
Navy at Tulsa
There are two things in this game that make me want to take the under. First, Navy is averaging only 67 passing yards on average per game. They are running the ball constantly, which is not a surprise. The second thing that stands out to me is that Tulsa quarterback Davis Brin has thrown 10 interceptions this season. Navy is good at running the ball, and Tulsa’s defense isn’t great against the run, but neither team is talented enough to consistently put points on the scoreboard. I’m going to play the under 47.5 at -115.
UNLV at Nevada
UNLV is just awful. They are progressively getting more competitive, so that’s something at least. But, overall, they are 0-7 and don’t really look good in any of the games. Nevada does have a pretty decent offense and can score some points. Their defense isn’t great, but it shouldn’t have a hard time with the UNLV team that is only averaging 19.6 points per game. This game to me seems like a 28 – 15 type of score. I’m going to take the under 58.5 at -110.
