We are in week five already for college football and we can identify some of the real teams, as opposed to those that are already disappointing us. As always, we play an over, an under, a side, and an underdog.
Duke at North Carolina
This isn't a basketball game, but there is still the rivalry between the Blue Devils and Tarheels even if this isn't on the hardwood. Duke's football team has been very good at putting up points, and hasn't really stopped people from putting them up. Now, to be clear, they've won three games, so they are getting stops, but their game totals are 85, 53, 62, and 59. North Carolina has basically been the same team, only they have a better quarterback - even if it has been a bit disappointing. Aside from their opener, their games have had a ton of points scored. Take the over in this one and hope they don't decide to play defense in it. Over 71.5 at -114.
Baylor at Oklahoma State
One of the better matchups of this weekend pits Baylor at Oklahoma State. Both of these teams have very strong defenses (so I'm going to guess you know where this is headed). Baylor has allowed 29 points or less in every game. Oklahoma State has allowed 23 or less in each game. Slowing down the Baylor offense will be difficult, but being at home should help. I'm expecting this one to be in the mid-to-high forties. We are getting dangerously close to the number I won't play it at, but I'm still comfortable with the under 47.5 at -114.
Liberty at UAB
This game should be a fun one to watch! Both teams can move the ball effectively through the air and on the ground. Both teams are 3-1 and playing very good football. UAB returns home after a three-game road stretch and that might be the difference in this game. Liberty, led by quarterback Malik Willis is a tough matchup and all eyes will need to be on him as they not only try to stop him through the air, but in the ground game as well. UAB is strong on offense too, but doesn't have the playmaker that Willis is. I do think they have the more complete team and home-field advantage though. Play UAB -1.5 at -114.
Auburn at LSU
I might again be in the minority, but I don't think LSU is that good of a team. The Tigers are relying heavily on Max Johnson, and have gotten good production out of the sophomore quarterback. However, they have struggled against the two teams that are even remotely close competition that they played. They narrowly beat Mississippi State last week and lost to UCLA badly. In my opinion, Auburn has really only played Penn State, but they stayed with them pretty well. I'm going to take the short underdog in Auburn at +128.
