Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever Are Getting Too Many Points Vs. Minnesota Lynx Sunday
If someone told me last year that I'd be handicapping WNBA games, I'd immediately stop talking to that person. Yet, here we are. Caitlin Clark is the most popular summer athlete thus far, spearheading the growth of women's basketball. Also, since I love basketball, I'd rather bet on Clark and her Indiana Fever (10-14) at Minnesota Lynx (17-7) than regular-season MLB.
The biggest non-Clark news is the possible absence of Minnesota's best player, four-time All-Star forward Napheesa Collier. She has been hurt for the previous three games and is "questionable" for Sunday. The WNBA's Olympic break begins Wednesday, so it would make sense for the Lynx to rest her until then.
Indiana Fever at Minnesota Lynx odds (DraftKings)
- Moneyline: INDIANA (+200) | Minnesota (-245)
- Spread: FEVER +6.5 (-112) | Lynx -6.5 (-108)
- Total — 165 — Over (-110) | Under (-110)
Collier leads Minnesota in scoring, 20.0 (PPG) and rebounding, 10.2 rebounds per game, and has the highest on/off net rating among the starters (+11.6). Plus, she is the Lynx's best defensive player. They are 2-1 straight up (SU) in their last three games without Collier but just 1-2 against the spread (ATS).
After an ugly start to the season, Indiana has played better recently. Over their last 10 games, the Fever are 6-4 SU and 7-3 ATS. Of course, Clark is playing a big role in that. Her shooting and assists numbers have greatly improved over that span. But, second-year Indy C Aliyah Boston and SG Kelsey Mitchell are balling too.
Boston is averaging 16.0 PPG over the last 10 games on 60.2% shooting with 9.9 rebounds. At the same time, Mitchell is scoring 19.1 PPG on 41.2% shooting from three over that span. Boston is a two-time All-Star, the No. 1 pick in the 2023 WNBA draft, and Rookie of the Year. If Collier is out or limited by injury, Boston will be a handful for the Lynx.
Lastly, the Fever has a significant edge on the glass. Over their last seven games, Indiana leads the WNBA in rebounding rate and Minnesota is 11th out of 12 teams in rebounding rate. Collier grabs more than twice the rebounds per game than her next closest teammate.
BET Fever +6.5 (-112) and ‘sprinkle’ on Indiana's +200 moneyline
