WWE Considering Six Major Cities for SummerSlam

While so many industries are drenched in bad news these days, the wrestling business is thriving with new TV deals; competitive programming; a presence on Peacock; and Roman Reigns, who is in the midst of an all-time run as the heel-turned "Head of the Table."

With fansset to return in July, WWE is planning to make a splash the weekend of Aug. 21-22 by broadcasting SummerSlam in one of the following six major cities:

Though SummerSlam is usually the second-biggest event on WWE's calendar, it could be the company's No. 1 in 2021. This past WrestleMania returned fans at only 25% capacity. SummerSlam has a chance to fill the seats, or close to it, for the first time since the pandemic hit.

What's more, the rumored main event would ensure whatever seats are available are filled.

To be clear, it's just rumored -- not reported -- but word is that WWE is considering ending the show with Roman Reigns vs. John Cena.

Aside from Reigns-Rock, Cena-Reigns is the biggest money match in wrestling. The former face of the company (Cena) vs. the current face of the company (Reigns). While this would be Reign's second feud with Cena, the first took place as a C-level pay-per-view in 2017, and it was merely a stop on Reigns' road to eventually knocking off Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.

Furthermore, Reigns was a babyface in his first feud with Cena. He's now an acclaimed heel after his pivot to the "Tribal Chief."

Whether it's Cena-Reigns or not, expect a big show. Vegas, Nashville, LA, New York, Miami, or Houston -- I'm in.
