Splash Shields Coming Soon To Football Face Masks
The era of open face masks in youth football could be coming to an end -- for now -- as splash shields will be on the market in July via Schutt Sports. The company says the shields "will offer some protection for football players from harmful droplets caused by talking, sneezing, and coughing in close proximity." Making sure not to promise moms out there 100% protection, the Schutt press release added "it can only limit exposure to airborne droplets that the athlete encounters during play."
Schutt Sports is selling the shields for $14.99:
Meanwhile, in New Jersey, the state has told they're recommending cloth masks be worn during practice and competition which led Riddell to come out with school logo masks that at least one coach says wouldn't be worn on the field. While at Schutt, they're expecting the splash shield will give football players the protection needed to move forward with a fall season.
