MLB commissioner Rob Manfred told Mike Greenberg he's no longer confident there will be a 2020 baseball season "as long as there's no dialogue" with the MLB Players Association. "I'm not confident. I think there's real risk; and as long as there's no dialogue, that real risk is gonna continue," Manfred said on ESPN's The Return of Sports. "It's just a disaster for our game, absolutely no question about it. It shouldn't be happening, and it's important that we find a way to get past it and get the game back on the field for the benefit of our fans." This is a drastic change from just last week when Manfred said there would "100% be a baseball season." An agent appears to share the same concerns: If there isn't a baseball season, it will be a disaster. And not for just this year. If the players and owners can't get this done, there will be fans who they never get back.
