Phillies Catcher Logan O'Hoppe Had One Of The Happiest At-Bats In Yankee Stadium History
Phillies catcher Logan O'Hoppe is 20 and a lifelong Yankees fan. Last night he got to live out a dream that is about as pure as it gets in Major League Baseball these days. Logan got an at-bat during the 9th inning of last night's summer training camp game at Yankee Stadium and the kid has a history at the place. That's O'Hoppe in the YES Yankees archive throwing back a home run ball back in 2018. His Twitter is loaded with tweets showing his allegiance to the Yankees.
This is his holy grail in life and there he was last night getting an at-bat for his employer against his favorite team. That's why Logan O'Hoppe, who spent part of 2019 playing A-ball and in the Australian baseball league, was all smiles as he lived out a fantasy.
Let's go to the video and see just how happy O'Hoppe was during the at-bat:
O'Hoppe grew up in West Islip, NY, a 47-mile trek from Long Island to Yankee Stadium. While Monday night was his first MLB experience at Yankee Stadium, he played in a 2017 summer ball game on the field playing for a Red Sox team . It's like we're looking at a 30 for 30 in the infancy and one day Logan's going to hit an important home run in Yankees history. It has to end that way. There are too many moments in Logan's life that are adding up to that final climax in a 30 for 30 where Tom Rinaldi brings you to tears.
But for now we're left with Logan's smile reminding us all that dreams come true and there's no reason why you shouldn't chase them. You're looking at a 23rd round draft pick living out his dream in a training camp game. Soak it up. Let that jaded fuel exit your body.
Dream big, kids.
