Outkick's Top Ten: Week Two 2014

Unlike the Big Ten, which died last night, Outkick's national top ten remains alive. It's late at night on the West Coast and I'm so bleary eyed I think I just saw UCLA survive to beat Memphis 42-35. But there's no way that was real life, right?

So here we go with Outkick's national top ten. Reminder, I rank teams entirely based on how they've done in the first two weeks of the season, not based on what we expected them to look like before the season started. That's why, for instance, I don't have Florida State in my top ten. I don't think the Seminoles have looked very good the first two weeks of the season.

With that in mind, here we go.

1. Georgia

The Bulldogs had a bye week to get ready for a road game at South Carolina, but I'm keeping them at number one.

2. Oregon

Down 27-18 to Michigan State, the Ducks could have buckled. Instead Marcus Mariota put Oregon on his back and carried them to a dominant final twenty minutes of the game, rolling off the final 28 points of the game.

3. Baylor

How good are the Bears? They scored 70 points with a back-up quarterback who passed for over 400 yards and five touchdowns. I'm pretty sure Art Briles could have you or me throwing for 300 in that offense.

4. Texas A&M

Sure, it was Lamar, but 73-3 is still pretty damn impressive. In two weeks the line against SMU is going to need to be infinity.

5. Oklahoma

Baylor vs. Oklahoma is a playoff game. Until then, neither team will lose a game.

6. Auburn

Gus Malzahn has now covered in 12 straight games. Meaning if you'd started betting $100 on Auburn 12 games ago and kept betting on Auburn, you would now have over $800,000.

7. USC

I know, I know, I had USC higher ranked last week and they just pulled off a big road win. But they should have lost to Stanford. So they get the win, but they drop a couple of spots in Outkick's top ten.

8. LSU

Leonard Fournette did the Heisman pose on the first touchdown of his career, a four yard carry. Aside from that nothing noteworthy happened in this football game. LSU simply dominated.

9. Virginia Tech

The Hokies went into Columbus and killed Ohio State and the Big Ten. Sure, the Buckeyes may not be very good this year -- J.T. Barrett's arm punt interceptions were a sight to behold -- but winning in the Shoe at night is still impressive. Fun stat, Urban Meyer is now 1-3 in his last four games.

10. Alabama

Lane Kiffin has the Tide offense rolling. Yes, I really said that. You know that the defense is going to be pretty damn good by the end of the season too. Now, about that cover...
