Outkick's Top Ten For Week 4 2016

It was another incredible day of college football. 

Particularly if you were a Tennessee Volunteer fan. 

Between Twitter stock surging and the Vol second half against Florida, I'm living right. 

As always, the Outkick top ten is composed entirely based on what we've seen through four weeks of play on the field. Nothing else matters. 

So here we go:

1. Louisville

Lamar Jackson was spectacular as usual and Louisville got out to a 52-7 lead before stumbling down the conclusion of the game -- thereby ensuring us the blood bank guarantee -- en route to a 59-28 win. 

Now comes the night game at Clemson. 

Lamar Jackson vs. Deshaun Watson -- are you kidding me? I can't wait. 

2. Alabama

The Crimson Tide played a virtual scrimmage.

And they'll do the same again next week against Kentucky. 

So their ranking stays the same.  

3. Ohio State

The Buckeyes had a week off.

There remains a big gap between our top three and the rest of the Outkick top ten. 

4. Texas A&M

With the Aggie win over Arkansas and what should be a virtually certain win at South Carolina next week, A&M should be undefeated on October 8th when Tennessee comes to College Station. If the Vols are undefeated as well -- which there's a decent chance of given how bad Georgia looked this weekend and the fact that the Vols finally got the Florida demons exorcised -- how big would that game be for two programs that have been starved in recent years for major wins?

Regardless the big question for A&M remains this -- can the Aggies finally finish a season as well as they can start one?

5. Wisconsin

I was wrong, I thought Michigan State would win this game with ease. 

Instead the Badgers dominated the first leg of their brutal Big Ten schedule. 

Up next?

Gulp, Michigan. 

6. Stanford

The Cardinal executed a near perfect final drive on the road in the Rose Bowl and then stripped and scored on the last play of the game to deliver one of the most crushing defeats imaginable to gamblers everywhere. 

Now comes Washington, who I dropped out of the Outkick top ten over their pedestrian performance at Arizona. 

7. Houston

I'm dropping the Cougars not because of how they played, but because of the quality of wins that the Aggies, the Badgers, and the Cardinal all notched this weekend. Each team won a road or neutral contest against top 25 opposition. (Yes, I know UCLA has two losses, but both were nail biters against A&M and Stanford and I'm pretty convinced the Bruins are a top 20 caliber team for certain).

If Houston keeps winning they'll get their chance to move back up.  

8. Michigan

The Wolverines dominated Penn State in every facet of the game. 

Will they do the same to Wisconsin?

It will be fun to watch and see. 

9. Tennessee

The Vols started the season in the national top ten, but this is their first appearance in the Outkick top ten. After muddling their way through the App State and Ohio games and playing one good half against Virginia Tech, at halftime of the Florida game, with the Vols trailing 21-3, I was ready to pronounce them dead.

But then something remarkable happened -- the Vols posted one of the best halves in the history of the program, thoroughly dominating Florida, turning a 21-0 deficit into a 38-21 advantage. 

The result?

The Vols roar into our top ten.

10. Clemson

The Tigers slink into our top ten with a dominant defensive performance against Georgia Tech. 

To be frank, how many other teams are there to consider at this point?

Washington's our number 11 team.

After that, it's slim pickings unless someone wants to argue for Miami or Baylor.
