After a crazy first week of college football betting action that saw a few major upsets with the Texas Longhorns, UNLV Rebels and Baylor Bears losing as massive home favorites, Week 2 should start to separate the contenders from the pretenders. Let’s take a look at some key matchups:

Auburn at Clemson (-5.5) (Sat, 7 p.m. ET) – Matchup Report

The Tigers and Tigers are each coming off easy wins last week against low-level competition, and this will be a totally different test for them. Clemson saw quarterback Kelly Bryant turn in a solid debut replacing Deshaun Watson, but Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham is the better signal caller and should outduel his counterpart. Auburn has covered the spread in four of its last five road games, according to theOddsShark College Football Database, so look for another here.

Oklahoma at Ohio State (-7.5) (Sat, at 7:30 p.m. ET) – Matchup Report

The biggest game of Week 2 without question will see the Sooners travel to Columbus looking to avenge last year’s home defeat against the Buckeyes. Ohio State’s defense is the real deal and shut the door in the second half of last week’s upset bid by the Indiana Hoosiers, and that will be the difference again. The Buckeyes are also 6-1 ATS in their past seven versus Big 12 schools, and they will shut down Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield’s Heisman bid early this season.

Stanford at USC (-6.5) (Sat, 8:30 p.m. ET) – Matchup Report

Are the Trojans really one of the top teams in the country? They dropped a couple spots in the polls after struggling against the Western Michigan Broncos, but this should be a much different story. USC is riding a 10-game winning streak dating back to last year, and QB Sam Darnold is a legitimate Heisman candidate. Even though the Cardinal have won seven of the previous nine meetings straight up and covered four games in a row on the road, this is USC’s time to shine. The Trojans have beaten the number in their last three during the month of September and will top Stanford by double digits to prove themselves as serious national championship contenders.

The first week of the 2017 NFL season is finally here, and bettors everywhere are looking for easy money picks to kick things off. Sharps often look to find value on underdogs, and there are a couple dogs barking in Week 1 along with a small home favorite that should cruise . . .

Eagles (-1) at Redskins (Sun, 1 p.m. ET) – Matchup Report

Washington opened as the home favorite in this game, but Philadelphia has gotten some brotherly love from the betting public. That is perplexing considering the Redskins have won the past five meetings straight up and covered the spread in the last six, according to theOddsShark NFL Database. Do not follow the public on this one, ride with Washington instead.

Jets at Bills (-9) (Sun, 1 p.m. ET) – Matchup Report

One of the biggest line moves of the week has seen Buffalo jump up to a nearly double-digit home favorite. Why? Well, quarterback Tyrod Taylor is expected to start for the Bills after getting cleared from a concussion, but who knows how long he will stay in the game if he takes some early hits. While New York cleaned house by getting rid of a lot of veteran players in the offseason, maybe that was a good thing, and the locker room will be better off. There are not really any betting trends supporting the Jets here, but this is too many points to give them.

Seahawks at Packers (-3) (Sun, 4:25 p.m. ET) – Matchup Report

Green Bay is the best team in the NFC and will prove that right away in the season opener at Lambeau Field. Seattle played well in the preseason, but the preseason is the preseason. The Packers have owned the Seahawks at Lambeau, winning the previous seven meetings there and covering four straight in the series at home. This is a potentially huge game for both teams in terms of home-field advantage down the road, and Green Bay will make sure not to blow the opportunity to make an early statement. Take the Pack to win by a touchdown or more.
