NFL Closing First 6-8 Rows of Seats, Possibly Covering Them With Ads

The NFL is going to be tarping off the first 6-8 rows of seats and possibly filling them with advertising banners that can be seen on TV, Ben Fischer reports at Sports Business Journal. These are pretty big money seats; the league is doing it because they want to protect players on the sidelines from potentially being too close to fans and possibly catching Covid.

You might have read this headline and said to yourself yeah that's what the whole stadiums are going to be. Maybe that's true! However, Daniel Kaplan reported in The Athletic earlier this week that the NFL is going to leave it up to regional jurisdictions as to whether and how many fans are allowed in stadiums.

Thus, there could be lopsided home field advantage in the NFL this year if some cities/states have stadiums that are full, some allow fans with capacity restrictions, and some allow no fans at all.
