Missouri QB Connor Bazelak Entering The Transfer Portal

The Missouri football season came to an end last night with the loss to Army in the Armed Forces Bowl. Now the time would continue for players that are thinking about transferring from the program. It seems that got off to a quick start for Eli Drinkwitz, as quarterback Connor Bazelak let it be known he would be entering the transfer portal.

Bazelak started eleven games for the Tigers this season, completing 245-346 passes for 2,540 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also throwing 11 interceptions. He was a two-year starter for Missouri, throwing for a total of 5,050 yards and a total of 23 touchdowns.

Things started to take a turn towards the middle portion of the year, as he struggled a bit with accuracy, thanks in-part to a rough season for his wide receivers. He was the SEC co-freshman of the year in 2020. Bazelak did not play in Wednesday night's bowl game, with the school saying he was dealing with a lower leg injury. Brady Cook, a redshirt freshman, started for the Tigers against Army, after Drinkwitz said he won the job in bowl practice.

"This has been a tough decision that I have been thinking about for the last several weeks, but I wanted to be available for my team one last time in the bowl game," Bazelak posted on Twitter. "After much prayer and discussion with my family, I have decided to enter the transfer portal to continue my academic and athletic career."

In the meantime, Bazelak will have two years of eligibility remaining and would be a nice pickup for somebody looking for a quarterback in 2022. The Tigers will be fine, as Tyler Macon returns, along with Brady Cook. Lets not forget that Eli Drinkwitz landed the ninth ranked quarterback of the 2022 class, in Sam Horn.

It's safe to say this move could benefit Bazelak, as he looks for a fresh start and a team that could use his fantastic arm. We've seen multiple quarterbacks enter the portal recently and find a home, so I expect Bazelak to be fielding multiple phone calls, especially with his talent.
