Missouri Falls On The Road, As Boston College Dominates On The Ground

As we discussed earlier in the week, Missouri was walking into a tough environment today in Boston, as they hit the road for the 2nd time this season. The Tigers were coming off a dominating performance over SEMO, as they looked to hand Boston College its first loss.

Well, if you though the Tigers had figured out a few things on defense, today was an example of how far they have to go. An explosion on the ground from Boston College gave them the early lead and they continued to push the Tigers around upfront. Yes, the Tigers passing attack had 303 yards today, but not being able to run the football has, and will continue to cause this team problems.

The Missouri defense held Boston College to 175 yards through the air, but couldn't get the push it needed on the defensive line to stop the run game. The Eagles rushed for 275 yards and controlled the time of possession, leading to multiple long drives, keeping the Tigers offense off the field.

The Tigers were held to 88 yards rushing and the offense turned the ball over twice. This is definitely not the way you go on the road and get out with a win. Today was bad, there's really no other way to put it. Missouri was favored by 2 points, according to FanDuel.com, even though it felt as if Boston College should've been favored at home.

Right now, it looks like Missouri has way too many problems on offense, even as Connor Bazelak went 30-41, for 303 yards, 1 TD, but 2 interceptions. This cannot be the identity of this group as the season moves on, as they can't just rely on Bazelak to bail them out. The Tigers were horrible on 3rd down defense, as the Eagles went 11-17. Missouri will continue to struggle this season if they allow those kind of stats.

The Eagles were led by Pat Garvo III, who rushed for 175 yards on 25 attempts, with 2 touchdowns. This ground game opened up the field for the Eagles, as they had receivers running wide open at times.

Simply put, the Tigers better figure this out, quick. They will host Tennessee next Saturday at 12 PM ET, on the SEC Network.

It will be a long flight back to Columbia and a long week inside the facility, as the Tigers try to work things out.
