Joe Biden Had No Choice

Joe Biden had no choice.

Democrat Party leaders were done with him, including Chuck Schumer and shadow titans Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi.

Once loyally liberal media influencers and outlets were done him – from Rachel Maddow to Joe Scarborough, from the New York Times to the Washington Post.

Democratic donors were done with Biden, freezing campaign contributions.

So were voters. Nearly two-thirds of Democrats want Biden to withdraw from the race and let his party nominate a different candidate, according to a new AP-NORC Center poll.

A RealClearPolitics electoral map projection Saturday predicted a 325-205 for Trump over Biden.

It was over for Joe Biden. There was no coming back. His health would not permit a rebound. It was either hold and lose to Donald Trump or bow out a hero.

The "decision," as we argued Thursday, was obvious.

The Republican Party will forever frown upon Biden's resume. It will be remembered, rightfully, as the fool who opened our borders, shamefully botched the withdrawal from Afghanistan, and put America second.

But had he stayed on the ticket, against the party's wishes, and lost to Trump – the Democrat Party would remember Biden just as negatively as the opposition. The left would forever shun him and his family.

The party would have blamed Biden for electing Trump, whom the party consensus obsessively depicts as a "tHreAt to dEmoCracy." (We now know the real threat to democracy.)

Now, at least on the left, Biden won't be shunned.

He will be remembered as fondly as he could be. He will depart the White House as the "candidate who defeated Donald Trump and stepped aside for the good of the party."

Perhaps he even secured some reassurance that the party would long help guard Hunter from legal trouble in exchange for the ticket.

If Trump wins the election in November, in which he's favored, Biden won't bore the vitriol. Rather, the press and party will blame white supremacy or sexism or Russia.

Joe is in the clear.
