Former Oklahoma QB Spencer Rattler Transferring To South Carolina

Former Oklahoma starting quarterback Spencer Rattler has found a new home. Per his Twitter account, the former five star prospect is transferring to South Carolina, which is a huge pickup for Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks.

Rattler will join his former teammate Austin Stogner, who also committed to South Carolina on Monday night. Talk about making a splash. Shane Beamer has landed two highly sought after players in one night, giving the offense a huge boost. During his recruitment in 2019, Rattler was the top rated pro-style quarterback in the country and was a preseason Heisman favorite this year, coming off a freshman season in which he threw for 3,031 yards, 28 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.

Despite the hype coming into the season, he struggled at times to ignite the offense this year and was replaced by freshman Caleb Williams during the Texas game. He finished the 2021 season with 1,483 yards and 11 touchdowns. In late November, he announced his intention of transferring from Oklahoma and threw only twelve passes during the last month of the season.

Despite being replaced during the season, Rattler was still a hot commodity and the college football world was waiting to see where the quarterback would transfer. This move now sets up Shane Beamer with a pretty intense quarterback competition, as Luke Doty, who's recovering from a foot injury, is still part of the South Carolina program.

So, Spencer Rattler and Austin Stogner will now reunite with Shane Beamer, after their days together at Oklahoma. Two big moves in college football were made by the Gamecocks on Monday night, and they will now look to continue the push with the early signing day upcoming on Wednesday.
