Family Loses Custody Of Transgender Teenager Thanks To Children's Hospital

A Maryland family that lost custody of its teenage son thanks to a local children's hospital has filed a lawsuit over the damage caused.

The son, who is autistic, was hospitalized after harming himself following a tough breakup with his then-girlfriend. While at the hospital, the staff at Children's National Hospital informed the parents that their son now wished to be a girl. Without any familial input, they informed the parents that they would be using "she/her" pronouns for the then 16-year-old.

According to a Daily Mail report, the army veteran parents were furious, saying that their son was "impressionable," as many children with autism are. The parents allege that the hospital ignored their wishes, and started a "full-on campaign to transgender this child," as well as engaging in "mental reprogramming."

They have since filed a lawsuit, which claims that the hospital kept their son away with the help of its emergency policies, while reporting the parents to child protective services. The son was then moved to foster care, where he stays today.

How did this happen? Well sure enough, the hospital employs a "non-gendered" chaplain, named Lavender Kelley, who, stunningly, is a fierce transgender activist. Kelley frequently posted expressing support for transitioning children, with or without their parents' consent. Who would have ever guessed?

Families Take A Back Seat To Transgender Activism

The son made a second suicide attempt in July 2022, after transitioning to she/her pronouns, and was re-admitted to the hospital as a girl. When discharged, he was sent to a foster mother who, according to the Daily Mail report, was a friend of the hospital chaplain with a previous assault charge.

When that woman died, the boy was moved to Kelley's care, the same chaplain who helped influence his "transition."

Now that he's 18, he's not required to return to his family, exacerbating a disastrous situation helped along by the cowardice and extremism of hospital administrators. The parents' lawsuit describes their actions as a "cruel, abrupt, and intentional interruption of two fit parents' fundamental rights to parent their minor son."

"[We] had never known of [our] son's purported desire or plan to change genders," the filing says.

"At Children’s National, it is as if all critical reasoning toward the child was suspended, and there was no investigation into the extent that the child was lying.'

Therein lies the issue with how pervasive far-left ideology has become throughout society. Hospitals or organizations, run by individuals like Lavender Kelley, have no interest in protecting parental rights, only in enforcing their views and beliefs. Impressionable young children are encouraged to act out on things they don't even fully understand, because it satisfies the wishes of extremist adults.

It's terrifying to imagine that this could happen to any parent, if their child happens to be sent to an activist hospital staffed by delusional ideologues. It's inexcusable, and given how society celebrates progressive ideology, all too predictable.
