Elon Musk Vows To Protect Free Speech Amidst Calls To Silence Trump Hate

Freedom of speech works both ways and Elon Musk vowed to protect it following the assassination attempt on former United States President Donald Trump.

One of the hallmarks of extreme left-wing politics is to silence all speech that goes against its prevailing narratives. They use terms like "hate speech" to shut down opposing ideas and thoughts.

There is mounting evidence that the government gave marching orders to tech and social media companies to try and tamp down right-wing points of view, particularly prior to the 2020 United States Presidential Election.

Famously, they shut down the story about the Hunter Biden laptop, which was set to help Donald Trump in the election.

It should have helped; the American people deserved to know what Joe Biden's family was up to since he was the Democratic nominee for president.

That being said, one of the hallmarks of right-wing politics in this country is complete freedom of speech for all people. That's a two-way street, though.

While many conservatives and right-wing pundits have rightfully pushed back against attempts by the left to silence them, the tables have now turned a bit.

According to Elon Musk, who owns X (formerly Twitter), some right-wingers are demanding limitations on anti-Trump speech following the assassination attempt.

But Musk simply expressed that it's not an option. He declared that X is a platform for free speech, which is exactly how it should be.

"We have recently received many requests to suspend or otherwise impact accounts on the left," Musk fittingly wrote on X.

"However, 𝕏 is a free speech platform that aspires to give equal voice to all, within the bounds of the law. That is what we will do."

This is the correct response. Are some of the posts about Trump abhorrent? Absolutely. Those people wishing that the bullet had killed Trump are evil humans.

But they still have the right to express that opinion.

It's important for the conservatives and right-wingers to acknowledge this, too. They've spent the past few years fighting to have their voices heard. Arguing now that the voices with which they disagree should be shut down is hypocritical.

Remember, allowing people to express themselves comes with many positive benefits. For example, the left-wing prides itself as the "peace and love" group.

Seeing so many of those ostensibly peaceful people openly wish death upon a political opponent sheds a light on their psyche. It's fantastic to see where they actually stand on these issues.

Shutting that down doesn't help the cause, it hurts it.

"When people show you who they are, believe them."

But if we don't let them show us who they are, then what should we believe?

This extends to the "doxxing" currently going on with left-wingers on social media.

Personally, I hate seeing right-wingers trying to get people fired from their jobs for insensitive, or even hateful, comments posted on the Internet.

I understand the impulse, trust me. The left spent years doing this to the right, and it's easy to simply look at this and think "turnabout is fair play."

However, the goal should be to rise above that kind of pettiness, not sink down to its level.

The American people are getting a good look at the true motives and feelings of the supposedly "loving, accepting and tolerant" left-wingers.

They don't need to be silenced or fired from their jobs. They need to be voted out of office.

That's how we handle these things in the United States of America.
