Dana White On Trump Assassination Attempt: Americans 'Should Be Horrified & Disgusted'

Since the shocking assassination attempt on former United States President Donald Trump, reactions have been coming in from virtually everyone with a public platform.

The latest comes from UFC President Dana White, who is a personal friend of Donald Trump as well as a political supporter.

White joined Pat McAfee on ESPN on Monday and discussed the shooting that took place Saturday at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The UFC President said he was on a flight to Italy at the time and had fallen asleep. His wife woke him up to tell him the news that Trump had been shot.

"Obviously, [Trump is] a very close, good friend of mine, so I started freaking out," White recalled of his immediate reaction.

White then took aim at some of the media coverage surrounding the event

"Some of the things that are being said… Imagine if somebody took a shot at Biden or Obama or Clinton. This is our president… Every American on Earth should be horrified by this, and disgusted and upset and angry," White said, struggling at times to even deliver his thoughts due to the serious nature of the subject.

"It was an attack on the United States, for sure, that's how you have to feel about it," McAfee responded.

Couldn't agree more with both White and McAfee on this one.

McAfee asked White, initially, about the reaction from several UFC fighters. Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor were two of those fighters who voiced support for Donald Trump following Saturday's attack.

They weren't the only ones. Colby Covington also lauded Trump for showing incredible strength immediately following a near-death experience.

UFC fighter Evan Elder won his fight on Saturday night and used his post-fight interview to shout out Trump.

UFC fighters are among the few professional athletes in the United States who regularly espouse right-leaning or conservative viewpoints. That's mostly due to Dana White constantly preaching freedom of speech in his league.

Many of the other leagues seem to steer their athletes away from those viewpoints, though they openly accept left-wing talking points.

That's true across most of corporate America and certainly isn't exclusive to professional sports.

Nonetheless, it's refreshing to see many UFC fighters rally behind Donald Trump after he was nearly killed by a madman.

Love Trump or hate Trump, the assassination attempt was an attack on democracy.

And not one of the theoretical attacks on democracy that the left-wing politicians and media elites never stop talking about, but a real one.

I'm with Dana White on this one. I am absolutely horrified, disgusted, angry and upset.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
