Clay Travis On Potential Kamala Harris Nomination: Black Voters See Her As 'Side Chick'

On Sunday, President Joe Biden announced that he is dropping out of the 2024 United States Presidential Election race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for president.

Harris is not guaranteed to receive the nomination and the country won't know officially until the Democratic National Convention, which starts Aug. 19.

However, she is the heavy favorite to be the replacement nominee, especially given the endorsement by Biden.

Whoever the Democrat nominee ends up being, they will go up against former President Donald Trump, who officially accepted the Republican nomination for president at the Republican National Convention last week.

OutKick founder Clay Travis aired a special breaking news edition of "OutKick The Show" on Sunday afternoon to deliver his thoughts on the incredible turn of events.

First, Travis wanted to remind everyone that he perfectly predicted, months ago, that Joe Biden would not be the Democrat nominee for President of the United States in the 2024 election.

"Your boy was right; I have been saying for some time Joe Biden was not going to be the nominee, that he was going to be forced out by Democrats, that they would cite his mental and physical incapacity and that they would try to find someone else," Travis stated.

"This is happening because Trump is kicking Joe Biden's ass, because Democrats are aware that Biden is going to lose. And so they pulled the plug on his candidacy," Travis continued.

"They were willing to lie about Joe Biden's physical and mental abilities up until June 27th, when Trump embarrassed him in the debate. From that point forward, suddenly, Democrats acknowledged what anyone with a functional brain had been able to see over the past several years. Joe Biden didn't have the physical or mental capacity to be President of the United States."

Then, Travis moved on to a discussion about the likely replacement nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Travis expressed that Harris might actually perform worse than Biden in the election against Donald Trump. One of the main reasons is that even though Harris identifies as a black woman, she doesn't resonate that well with black voters.

"I think Kamala Harris doesn't really motivate black voters very well. Particularly black men, who recognize that she's a side chick," Travis said.

"She got her start in politics by banging Willie Brown, the Democrat married mayor of San Francisco. She doesn't have any kids of her own. She's married to a Jewish lawyer… Her mom and dad were rich. She isn't like most normal people out there."

Travis then took aim at her elevation to Vice President in the first place. Recall that Joe Biden promised to only consider black women as his running mate in 2020, eliminating the majority of candidates on the basis of race and gender.

"She is the ultimate diversity, equity and inclusion candidate. And we just saw what DEI does at the Secret Service: it nearly gets the president killed," Travis continued. "She is DEI personified."

Travis then used a sports analogy to explain the situation in which Harris, Biden and the Democrats now find themselves in.

"Kamala is a backup quarterback. Joe Biden was knocked out of the game. For those of you out there who love watching football, the backup quarterback comes in, and he's usually got a higher ceiling because he's healthy. But he's got a lower floor, too, because there's a reason he was the backup," Travis said.
