Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Meets With Biden After 100+ People Shot Over Fourth Of July Weekend

Like copying answers from a failing student, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot met with President Biden to discuss solutions for the rise in gun violence in Chicago after 108 shootings were reported over the holiday weekend.

Lightfoot, whose strongest principles as a mayor includes defunding the police, is beginning to receive pressure for failing to combat a wave of violence plaguing Chicago.

After tallying 17 fatalities and dozens of children shot between Friday evening and Monday, Lightfoot reached out to Biden and Democrat Gov. J.B. Pritzker to briefly discuss the matter before the Commander-in-Chips took off to McHenry County after arriving at O'Hara International Airport on Wednesday.

While their discussion on the tarmac remained brief, the two have largely pushed for stricter gun restrictions and taking away police budgets to tackle issues with growing gun violence.

Among those who were killed in Chicago's surge in shootings was Max Lewis, who died last week at the age of 20 after getting hit with a stray bullet while on his commute home.

The student at the University of Chicago was returning from an internship for an investment firm in downtown Chicago when he took the train home one afternoon and was fatally hit by a bullet. Reports indicate that Lewis was not necessarily the intended target — just another innocent casualty under Lightfoot's watch.
