Brian Stelter DISMANTLES Sandwich, Gets GRILLED By Guest

CNN anchor Brian Stelter had himself a rough Sunday after a questionable segment involving a sandwich and a brutal critique from a guest left him with more egg on his face than a croque monsieur.

In the first clip from Sunday's episode of the Stelter-hosted Reliable Sources, the political pundit took a real sandwich apart on screen to give his take on the various components that make modern news outlets credible — a proverbial sandwich of teamwork that his network has been accused of lacking. Stelter uses the segment as an attack on Fox News, with a particular mention of host Tucker Carlson, but his failed lesson on the media made him the biggest loser to promote a sandwich on TV since Jared Fogle.

Always the cheese at CNN after a string of stinking ratings, Stelter closed his self-celebration when his guest, author Michael Wolff gave an absolutely ruthless assessment of Stelter's role in media disinformation and distrust:

"I think the media has done a terrible job on this. I think you yourself, while you're a nice guy, you're full of sanctimony. You've become one of the parts of the problem of the media. You come on here and you have a monopoly on truth ...

"You are, why, one of the reasons people can't stand the media. Sorry …"

Stelter nervously laughed off the comments, "You're cracking me up."

"It's your fault," said Wolff, before the CNN anchor asked his guest for advise.

"Don't talk so much. Listen more … the media exists in their own bubble."
