Bosa On Raiders QB Derek Carr: 'He Kind Of Shuts Down'
Raiders quarterback Derek Carr's sizzling start to the season fizzled out in a big way on Monday night. Vegas' veteran signal caller was constantly under duress during Los Angeles' convincing 28-14 win. Carr was sacked four times and intercepted once, prompting Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa to comment that the LA defense had Carr "shook."
"We knew once we hit him a few times, he really gets shook. And you saw on (Covington's) sack, he was pretty much curling into a ball before we even got back there. Great dude, great player...but we know once you get pressure on him, he kind of shuts down," said Bosa, per Daniel Popper of The Athletic.
Carr and the Raiders were able to withstand a lightning delay, but not the Bolts' defense. In addition to being sacked a season-high four times, Carr was consistently pressured and well off the mark with his throws. He finished the game, Vegas' first loss, with just 196 passing yards on 21 completions, an average of 5.8 yards per attempt.
Vegas and their quarterback have a chance to get right next Sunday with a home tilt against the Bears, while the Chargers will look to keep things rolling against a red-hot Browns team. Both LA and Cleveland enter next week's slate of game's with 3-1 records. The Browns have won three straight while Los Angeles has pieced together back-to-back wins.
