Bill Maher Rips Liberal Media On COVID Lies, Inaccuracies
Bill Maher, the host of Real Time on HBO, is finally ready to call out the liberal media for how it has covered the COVID-19 pandemic over the year-plus. On Friday night, Maher absolutely ripped the that liberal media during his closing monologue.
He started by saying he wanted doctors, the media and the government to give news to him straight, not twist the message because they feel like the average citizen can't handle it.
"Over the past year, the COVID pandemic has prompted the medical establishment, the media and the government to take a scared straight approach to get the public to comply with their recommendations," Maher said. "Well, I'm from a different school. Give it to me straight, Doc. In the long run, that always works better than you can't handle the truth."
Maher then dove into a database researchers from Dartmouth have built that monitors COVID coverage from around the world. While other countries have been mostly split between positive and negative coverage, a significant portion the coverage in the United States has been negative.
"Researchers at Dartmouth built a database recently monitoring the COVID coverage of the major news outlets across the world and found that while other countries mixed in the good news with the bad, the U.S. national media reported almost 90 percent bad news," Maher said. "Even as things were getting better, reporting remained negative."
Shocker, right?
Maher also ripped politicians for "staying in practice" with all the lies.
"When all of our sources for medical information have an agenda to spin us, you wind up with a badly misinformed population, including on the left," Maher pointed out.
He wasn't close to being done either. It was roughly eight minutes of destroying the way our country has dealt with and covered the coronavirus pandemic. Maher praised the Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for "protecting his most vulnerable population, the elderly" while lighting up New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for not doing the same.
The monologue wasn't all rainbows and sunshine for Republicans, but there was a lot of real, down-to-earth things included. I would highly recommend checking it out below.
