Biden Says He Believes Cuomo Will Be Prosecuted

President Joe Biden has taken some flak, even from his own party, for staying mostly silent and impartial when it comes to the sexual misconduct allegations against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

But the president changed his tune in an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos on Tuesday night.

When asked if Cuomo should resign -- as so many New York state Democrats are calling him to do -- Biden was more direct in his answer than previously.

"Yes," Biden replied. "I think he'll probably end up being prosecuted, too."

Seven accusers have raised allegations against Cuomo since December, with the majority coming over the previous month. Among the accusations is a claim that he groped a woman. The claim was referred to police in Albany, N.Y. Since then, multiple New York politicians have called on Cuomo to resign.

"There should be an investigation to determine whether what she says is true," Biden told Stephanopoulos. "That's what's going on now."

Biden later added: "There could be a criminal prosecution that is attached to it. I just don't know."

Cuomo has denied the allegations, telling reporters last week that he won't bow to "cancel culture" and that he has no plans to resign.

Prior to the ABC interview, Biden didn't take much of a stance regarding the Cuomo ordeal. "“I think the investigation is underway, and we should see what it brings us” was Biden's only previous comment on the matter.

The first Cuomo accuser, Lindsay Boylan, is a former aide who has repeatedly blasted Cuomo on Twitter.

“The governor has denied all wrongdoing,” Boylan tweeted. “He got on his platform today and said ‘there are many motivations of why people do things.’ He is calling up hate and speculation to be directed to his accusers. All harm and hate directed at the women sits squarely on @NYGovCuomo.”

Boylan added, “It also calls into question the judgment and courage of both @POTUS and @KamalaHarris.”

She later deleted the tweet about Biden and Harris.

“A woman should be presumed telling the truth and should not be scapegoated and become victimized by her coming forward,” Biden told Stephanopoulos. “But there should be an investigation to determine whether what she says is true.”
