Axios Says Kamala Harris Was Never 'Border Czar,' After Years Of Calling Her That
As the presumptive Democrat nominee, Kamala Harris' failures regarding the Southern border will inevitably become a topic of focus.
The border is among the most shameful developments of the Biden-Harris administration, perhaps trailing only the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. And it was Harris who Biden put in charge of the border.
But media outlets spent the past few days trying to dispel the narrative that Harris was the "border czar," if you will. Axios is one of those outlets.
"The Trump campaign and Republicans have tagged Harris repeatedly with the ‘border czar’ title — which she never actually had," the outlet posted on Wednesday.
Oh, but the internet lives forever.
See, Axios was among the first outlets to label Harris just that – the "border czar." Below is an Axios article from 2021:
In one of the most incredible community notes yet, Axios was reminded of its former phrasing:
Axios did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
Remember, very few corporate news outlets considered Harris a viable replacement for Biden until last month. Names like Gavin Newsom and Michelle Obama were frequently floated before hers.
Thereby, Axios won't be the only outlet trying to distance itself from its previous coverage of Harris' role at the border. With Biden out of the way, the legacy media will go all-in on trying to push Harris over the finish line.
She will be the most profound media darling since Barack Obama.
Luckily, for Donald Trump, he will have more than just the border to hit her on. Kamala Harris' resume is uniquely unremarkable for a vice president, let alone a presidential nominee.
Her record as both district attorney and attorney general is shoddy. Primary voters swiftly rejected her in 2020, forcing her to leave the race before January of that year. She is a notoriously unpopular politician, particularly among her staff. A staggering 92 percent of Harris’ staff left her in her first three years as VP.
Kamala Harris is in this position because she is a black woman, a requirement to be Joe Biden's running mate.
We expect Axios to soon deny that, as well.
Update: Axios provided the following editor's note to the article: This article has been updated and clarified to note that Axios was among the news outlets that incorrectly labeled Harris a "border czar" back in 2021.
Bobby Burack and Sage Steele discuss Kamala Harris and whether she is a DEI president on "The Will Cain Show." Watch and listen to that here.
