Are The Chiefs Looking To Make A Deal With The Eagles For TE Zach Ertz?

The Kansas City Chiefs already have perhaps the best tight end in the NFL, Travis Kelce, a player whose dynamic ability has allowed the Chiefs to develop an offense that almost can't be stopped.

Now with NFL free agency upon us, rumors are swirling that the Chiefs just might want to upgrade the tight end spot even more. The team now reportedly has interest in Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that "several teams have been engaged" about Ertz, and the Chiefs are one of them.

If they deal Ertz, the Eagles would clear more than $4.75 million in cap space.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Ertz’s agent, Steve Caric, has been given permission to seek a trade of his client, and there are surely teams that would have interest in him.

The report says that the permission to seek a trade was done a few weeks ago, but as of today when free agency gets rolling, the Eagles and Caric haven't found any takers.

The Chiefs would certainly have a dynamic 1-2 punch with Kelce and Ertz, but other teams are also showing interest. The Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers are three that could make a push to get Ertz on their roster.

Ertz was a third-round pick of the Eagles back in 2013, and since then, he made the Pro Bowl in three straight seasons (2017-19).

In 11 games last season, he pulled in 36 passes for 335 yards and one score.

If the Chiefs are truly interested in adding Ertz, it would be interesting to see what the Eagles could get in return for the 30-year-old entering his ninth NFL campaign.
