Adam Wainwright Of The Cardinals Wins 2020 Roberto Clemente Award

Just moments ago, St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright was announced as the 2020 Roberto Clemente award winner on MLB Network. Of all awards baseball has to offer, this is the big one.

In 2013, Wainwright founded Big League Impact, which has raised over $5.8 million for food and water in the local community. His foundation is a "community of athletes, musicians, and other public figures that use their platforms to promote awareness."

Most of the time, celebrities use their platforms to push their opinions. Wainwright instead uses his platform to raise awareness on causes that are objectively good for mankind. Good on him.

After the award was announced, Wainwright gave a quick reaction to the honor.

"It's the highest honor of my entire career," Wainwright said on MLB Network.

For Wainwright -- a two-time World Series champion, three-time All-Star, two-time Gold Glover, and a Silver Silver Slugger award winner -- to say it's the highest honor of his career, you know it must be special.

Congratulations to Adam Wainwright on this tremendous award.
