According To Report, South Carolina HC Shane Beamer Is A Candidate for Oklahoma Job
Well, when you have some success in your first year as a head coach in the SEC, your name is going to be brought up regarding other coaching vacancies, especially if you have history with the school in need. And according to 247Sports, Oklahoma has some legit interest in South Carolina's Shane Beamer.
According to the report, Beamer is thought to be a coach who could come in and maintain the current roster, providing stability to the Sooners program.
Beamer's name was also recently attached to the Virginia Tech job, for obvious reasons. But the Gamecocks coach shot those rumors down quickly.
"This is the place I want to be," Beamer told media members on November 16th. "This is my dream job, and I wasn't saying that to sound cool in a press conference or to get this job. This is where my wife, Emily, and my family wants to be."
The reason his name is now involved with the Oklahoma search ties back to the three years he spent coaching at Oklahoma and the relationships he still maintains there. But on the same day he shot down the rumors about the Hokies' opening, he also had this to say about South Carolina:
"My son Hunter, he's in the second grade, I want him to graduate high school in Columbia. Recruiting is going well. There's a lot of energy and enthusiasm around our program. I want to bring an SEC championship to Columbia, and we are in the beginning stages of doing that. We use the word 'love' around here. I love coaching these kids. I love coaching these kids and I love being their coach."
